Malayalapuzha amma

The temple of Malayalapuzha today is a popular one among devotees going to Sabarimala. The main deity is Goddess Bhadrakali, a form of the Goddess Parvati, she is popularly known as Malayalapuzha amma or Malayalapuzha mother. This hill top village where it is situated is also named after the mother. The one peculiarity of this temple is one in four devotees seeking blessings at the MalayalapuzhaDeviTemple is a Christian or a Muslim. The temple has been popular with non-Hindu from the time my great grandfather used to perform daily pujas at the temple this had not changed even when I used to perform pujas here in the late 50’s before I went on to seek my further education and career elsewhere with the blessings of Malayalapuzha amma, It still has not changed one bit if anything the frequency of non-Hindus to the temple has only increased. The popular belief is that the Goddess is noted for getting the unmarried girls married, protecting the devotee from enemies, helping businesses flourish, getting employment and in general extending prosperity to all the devotees. The arrival of non-Hindus in large numbers week after week is a standing testimony to the Malayalapuzha Amma's unlimited blessings to the devotees. There are special pujas for driving away evil spirits. Only a certain red flower known as "Raktha Pushpanjali" is used for this worship.

According to a source they say this temple has its roots in history for more then 800 years. Temples, like this is the nucleus point where that great natural power which controls everything in this universe is felt. Whoever gets a chance should visit this temple.
